Woken by the doggers...

Post by barney »

A cracking (sadly quite literally :(( ) trip this weekend around the Clwydians with Matt and Paul.

Left Cilcain and after a short ride round Moel Arthur we pitched on top of a hillock near the TV mast with cracking views. All seemed quiet until about 1am when I heard a car drive up a gravel path close by, stop about 50 yards away and then the flashing lights began! X_X X_X X_X

Either they didn't see us or we weren't invited so I decided that it was time to turn up the volume on the iPod and try to get to sleep.

Great riding the next day with a cake & coffee stop back in Cilcain when we finished. Unfortunately Matt took an innocuous tumble which later resulted in a trip to A&E revealing 2 cracked ribs.

Hope you start to feel better Matt.

Thanks for Friday night guys.

I am not 100% sure the nures was right about my ribs, surley she should have had a X ray before making her diagnosis and sending me home.?

I suspect torn or stretched tissue fiber connecting the lowers to the mids, after all the lower are floating ribs, and the pain is not as bad as would expect for cracked ribs more a swelling pain!
I will go to the doctors for a second opinion in the morning.

I've pitched up there a few times. Never seen anything going on as you did though
Which route did you take ? The climb up moel y parc is a bitch.

Last time I rode too moel y Parc used the verandah route around moel Arthur, churned up with tractors and cattle.
Made the mistake of maintaining height on the footpath rather than the bridleway down the hill, not rideable due to boggy ground again churned up by cattle.

They don't do much for ribs unless the injury impacts on your lung function (flail chest, pneumothorax etc) - so not much point in giving you an X-ray . . . Hope they gave you some good painkillers :)
