Some guy on bikepacking.net thinks they saw him in Banff on the 6th.
STW think he might be riding as Terry Smith (ITT, started 3 days ago) as he's the same age... has been taking some detours which is odd if he wants a fast time.
Terry Smith's detours aren't that's unusual, Whitefish, bike shop/pizza. Ferndale to get food, Holland Lake for food at the hotel there. There's nothing else around, so makes sense.
Next stop Ovando, they're super keen there and take pics of most riders, let's see what they get!
Hi guys, I'm in the Elkford Motor Inn. The last week in Canmore/Banff has been great, today, after and hour or two the heavens opened and stayed that way. Whatever it has cost to stay here isnt nearly enough as it's packed with people traipsing mud everywhere. The bathroom looks like the somme.

Sounds like it's been cold and wet on day 1. Josh Kato is 12 miles past the Flathead cabin now .. that's going some on a dry, fast day. A few others are stopped between Corbin mine and the cabin, can't be a nice place to be in poor weather. Bear density is high there also. Commitment. Liam Crowley's at the cabin, he raced in 2013 and I'm pretty sure he got there that year.
Problem with Mike Halls spot. Which he could be anywhere in the field. Sure he'll pop up somewhere at some point, just wonder what position??
I'm guessing he'll be somewhere at the pointy end of things as Josh is motoring along...
I know Mike's not carrying a phone so it could be a while before someone can point out the issue to him and figure out the logistics of getting a new one to him whilst he riding ninja stylee.
Mike called into MTB cast: http://mtbcast.com/site2/category/td16/ crossed the border about 7:45am (whatever timezone they're in), about half an hour ahead of Josh
At the other end of the field I'm filling my face at Tim Horton's in Sparwood. Looks like rain is coming but otherwise much better conditions than yesterday. *BURP*

I was just having a look at 'Terry Smiths' track history and he seems to have gone off route 3 times on the first day - first time going the wrong side of a lake on a road instead of the route. Can't see that getting past the judges.....
Mike Hall is at 365 miles after 1 day 9 hours, holy moly!
If he continues at the same pace for the rest of the race he'll finish in (I think) roughly 10 and a half days!
Greg made it over the border sometime last night (our last night...) looks to be having a nap by Grave Creek with Dean Anderson (Canadian singlespeed rider). Currently they're a little ahead of the 20day marker and have about 80 miles to Whitefish in the morning!

Heh....if Greg only knew that approx. 2 miles further up the hill there was a big shelter with tables and benches, a toilet block, water. My day 3 afternoon nap/refuel spot from last year. :)
Interesting to see Josh Kato's 2015 TDR and Lael Wilcox's ITT record 'ghost' spots are now up. Lael's tracking ahead of Josh's at this stage. Josh was up front but not in the lead this time last year from what I remember so it shows how he must've been consistent, going really well toward the end.
