Hi, hoping to do the TCW over a leisurely 2.5 days this weekend, but need to get back from Dovey Jnct to Knighton on Sunday late afternoon/eve. What's my best bet for taxi's/trains? Anyone got any recommendations?
Cheers
Dan

Re: TCW - Taxi back to Knighton
Hi Dan,
We did the train a couple of weeks ago - but we left a van in Mach (the guy in the station recommended we park right outside the ticket office) and everything was fine. We paid a single, off peak fare (with the bikes on the day; no booking) for about £30 each. Hassle free really although the opposite way round to your journey but we wanted the flexibility of arriving back at our own transport. Worked well I think. Arriva trains were on time and they sqeezed on more than two bikes on one leg of the journey.
Hope it's as good a trip as we had! :)
Cheers, Mark

Re: TCW - Taxi back to Knighton
Thanks for the info. I've looked into the trains and the latest I can leave Mach is 14.07 and Dovey Jnc 13.54 on the Sunday and both have a bus service running, which I'm not sure will be possible with 2 bikes
I'm going to be driving up from Devon on Friday morning, so could get to Dovey/Mach by Midday with an early start but then the earliest train back doesn't get me to Knighton till 6pm (ish) and only gives us 2 days (but maybe thats the better option....hmmm)
Anyone done the taxi option from Mach or Dovey?

Dan you could try Mach Taxis - 01654 702048, I recall that they can carry bikes.
May the bridges you burn light your way

Re: TCW - Taxi back to Knighton
Dan,
We did the train on Wednesday lunchtime from Mach 1205 (midweek timetable) - into Knighton about 1550 - riding for about 1630... a few hours that evening. Finished in mach on Friday afternoon.
Taxi listed by IMBA here too:

Not used them but Arriva Trains Wales were surprisingly good - we squeezed on more than two bikes with no issue on one leg of the journey... I guess it depends on the mood of the conductor!
Cheers, Mark
