Bike related but not bivi related so I hope you don't mind.
The 8 speed drivetrain on my revolution courier town bike was in desperate need of replacement as I hadn't replaced a thing on it in about 3 1/2 years, not even the chain. I did have some still servicable 9 speed parts from my MTB (which I look after properly) namely cassette, ring and chain but no shifter. CRC do a deore shifter for about £17 but none in stock at the moment so I went to our local bike charity shop "The Bike Station" whom I just can't praise enough. As luck would have it I found a deore 9 speed shifter lurking in the bottom of a draw so took it to the desk and asked how much they wanted for it, they were really busy so the guy said "oh, just bung 50p in the charity box and it's yours". Well I put all the loose change in that I had which was about £3.50, bargain. Even better is the cassette now fitted is a 12/34 instead of the original 12/32 which I found a little overgeared for some of the hills in Edinburgh, that is why I am a very happy man :D .
