Tyre advice

Post by gairym »

Ok, everyone has their personal favorites for general UK riding but.....based on the criteria below what tyres would you recommend I get?

Criteria:

- Predominantly rock/gravel surfaces.
- Reasonably low rolling resistance.
- In the 2.2-2.4 region.
- Not too pricey.
- 26"
- Durable.

They need to be good enough for me to be confident that they'll manage a 10 day off-road TransAlp bikepacking trip without dying.

Any thoughts....?

Thanks in advance, Gairy.

2.2 Race Kings ... they're the only tyre anyone needs*

*Apart from today seeing that it hasn't stopped raing for 48 hours, the rivers up nearly 2 and a half feet and I'm developing webbed toes
May the bridges you burn light your way

Second the race kings if it's dry trails. However as you said UK your bound to come across some mud and they clog really easily so I now use Schwable Smart Sam's which have better side knobs and don't clog as easily.

I also have 29" WTB Nanoraptors on my Fargo which are fast, cheap and cope well in everything except all out mud. I don't know if 26" perform as well but worth a look.

thanks fellas, not sure which to go for now....?

think i'll most likely end up with the Race Kings as CRC has free shipping to France and On-one doesn't.

cheers!
