29" tyres - any good deals about?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Just in the process of putting my SS back together now I've found some forks but I'll be needing some new tyres. Has anyone seen any good/cheap deals about? Ideally something between 2 and 2.3 that's lightly treaded/fast rolling ... don't make me have to put Mud Xs back on ;)

Think I saw some cheapish stuff at On One / Planet X or (if you feel like chancing them) JE James (ad in the back of MBR). Sorry can't be more specific.

Good call on JE James Cheeky Monkey ... a pair of 2.1 folding Vulpines ordered for only a couple of quid more than most places want for one :D

JE James is often good (especially for random shimano drivetrain bits) - used to be my local bike shop too!

Glad it was of some use 8-)

There are horror stories about JE when stuff is out of stock and getting generally yanked around (IIRC) but of the few orders I've done with them it's all been fine.

In fact it's reminded me the Gryphon might go well with a set of those

I have borrowed a pair of vulpines, have a long road idea this weekend so hope I will whizz round! I've had them on for a week now and they are great - except in the mud - sliding all over the place, but it was very wet in places on our Sunday ride to be fair.

I hope they are quick enough to make 180m of tarmac bearable on a 29er ...

Try Rosebikes.de - just got a pair of schwalbe Nobby Nics (29"), including shipping for £43.00

(Have used Rose a lot recently & although not quite as fast as c***** R*******, they're pretty quick)
