Handlebar Kit Carrying Products

Post by Cheeky Monkey »

Which do folks rate best:

Revelate's Sling - temporarily out of stock but only $30 (plus of course slightly more P+P and potentially customs charges) or

Wildcatgear's Mountain Lion at £50 (plus delivery).

Was looking for an alternative to my bikepacking bar bag. I like it but it's a bit long for one  of my bikes. Plus I like the idea / potential versatility of a harness type affair. And it's more gear

Wondered whether anyone uses / has tried / knows if the ML will fit on a pair of wide Salsa Woodchippers?

Mountain Lion's will fit pretty much any handlebar - risers, flats, standard road bars, midges and so I imagine Wood Chipper's too. The width between the drops will limit the length of dry bag you can fit, but for reference, the padded panel is 28cm at its widest and where the straps loop over the bar, they're around 12 cm centre to centre (20mm wide strap).

They're £45 plus delivery (not £50 + p&p). Pick up at WRT is an option too, if you wanted to save the postage :)

My Mountain Lion fits between my WTB Mountain Road drops like it was made for them ;)

Stevemorg sold his revelate sling for a Wildcat harness.
I have a revelate harness and a wildcat. I find the mountain lion far more stable than the revelate offering.
Initial fitting is more involved but stays tighter than the revelate.

The Revelate sling is OK - it does its job and, if it wasn't for being stung by customs etc would be cheap!

But........The Wildcat Mountain Lion is much better - by the time you factor in the potential wait, possible extra charges I think its also a better buy

Been looking at the wildcat stuff recently but couldn't make up my mind between different makes.
Also saw some backpacker polish stuff

Has anyone got experience how these different ones work on jones j-bars?
Cheers

I've never had a problem with either a Wildcat or *Revelate on Jones bars ... but the Wildcat is much more secure once fitted, the *Revelate will move around over rough ground, no matter how tight it's done up.

*Not a Revelate sling but a full harness.

Superb turnaround from Beth / Widcat and a really nice sturdy looking Mountain Lion harness received. Looking forward to trying it.

The handlebar bag here is from Pawel in Poland, very solid setup. Doubt I'll use the Revelate sling again
