Mounting Handlebar Lights Above Harness?
I was just prepping for a ride when I realised that with the bag harness on the handlebars I've got no way of mounting my lights. I have a little bar that attaches to the handlebars which they can go on, and that provides enough height, but because of the straps for the harness, they'd end up pointing in completely the wrong direction (left or right rather than centre).
So for flat bars (I know there are other bars that don't have this problem), what's my best bet? Can I get a bar that attaches to the handlebar on either side to give me an area in the middle to work with? I can't use my stem as that's where my GPS lives.

Not a problem with my Revelate Harness as it sits just below bar height.
I've had some success mounting a light onto the fork (below luggage height)..
I can't see why your extender wouldn't work though. If need be, you can rotate the lower part so that it sits on the stem rather than the bars

I can't get at the stem at all, I like I said, my GPS is there. It's a pretty short stem too (well, by XC standards).
This looks like it could work:

Or this

As they should fit to the inside of the straps on my harness, which the one I have doesn't.

Fit the GPS on the extender too?
Or make up one of those flashy gizmos you're posted with 4 cheap reflector mounts and an offcut of handlebar.

I bought two riser mounts from sjs, and used the two uprights to support just one horizontal section. About a fiver each.

Exactly like those but I definately didn't spend £15 each!

It's doable, though I think it would annoy to have it off centre. I reckon stick an extender on an extender.ScotRoutes wrote:Fit the GPS on the extender too?

Yeah, I like that sort of thing. Much prefer the mounting mechanism to what I have.johnnystorm wrote:I bought two riser mounts from sjs, and used the two uprights to support just one horizontal section. About a fiver each.

Edit - That mount is ghettotastic. I love it!

It's not even handlebar. It's a piece of throwaway "packaging" that came with a set of Tri-bars

Re: Mounting Handlebar Lights Above Harness?
I've got a cheap bar extender thing, can't remember who makes mine, but I can mount both my gps and bar light to it
Here's a picture, though this is with a drybag mounted straight to the bars, no harness - I have the revelate harness now. Also this is the morning after so I'd taken off the bar light and stuck it in the fuel cell.

Zazen - nothing happens next this is it.
Re: Mounting Handlebar Lights Above Harness?
There's a kcnc extender which I used with flat bars similar to the one pictured above. Just has one support rather than two.
It's fine with not loads of weight on it as the bar is very thin and can be crushed by overtightening.
I think mine came from the xc racer online shop

I use one of these (mine's mounted below the stem). Very well made and very stable in use.

Cheers all.

Similar but different, it goes along not up (and not quite worth digging up and older topic)

It's just the bar bit and the screw/mount bits, that replace the bolts on your stem... Found it here http://www.velovitality.co.uk/collectio ... less-stems
