Bikepacking Cannock Chase? Anyone?

Post by Adventurer »

Cannock chase is my local, but I've never seen anyone with bikepacking gear.

Has anyone done it?

I find the chase good away from the trails and remember it before any trails were even thought of.

I camped out there one night and a very pleasant evening it was too. It's supposedly the epicentre of Midlands dogging but I saw nothing untoward. Arrive late leave early.
I'm just going outside ...

I passed through and camped on one occasion up near the German cemetery. Plenty of quiet spots away from the Monkey and FtD trails.

you can get water at marquis drive at the back of the toilet block, also at tackeroo camp site, then just find a quiet part without a trail running through it, plenty of food options loca,l pye green chippy, cafes at the visitor centres, just avoid any of the car park areas up near the cemetery, unless that's your thing
to be honest just avoid all car park areas not to bad now though as they only do drugs in daylight,
mart and myself have been up near tackeroo just across the road but they have thinned it out now, also remember the rutting starts soon,
it's not that I can and others can't, it's that I will and others won't.
