Yes, to a point. I rode it to get to the Longstaff Less is More weekend. The official route through Long Mynd I tweaked to get in a better descent. Interested in your route though. Will email you...

If you need a shower by then there is a yha with camping at the Talybont reservoir. Nice spot too.

It's an interesting journey from Newport to Brecon.

One end of the canal has no boats and loads of shopping trolleys whilst the other has no shopping trolleys and loads of boats!

If you get as Far East as the North Yorkshire moors there's a lot of gravel.

I rode a 100k loop yesterday of a route called 'moor to sea' it's signposted (not that well in places) and there's info online.

Does anyone know this track from the A890 south of Achnasheen to Loch Beannacharain?

Would it be seriously type 2 fun on a laden CX bike, or just about survivable.

Any ideas on North Wales up to Carlisle? I'm going to look at that over the weekend. I don't think we can stray too far east as the route needs to be doable in 10 days.

Where in N. Wales have you got to? If you can get round Liverpool then there's the Leed-Liverpool canal to get you to the Pennine Bridleway (they meet at Barnoldswick) then up the PBW to Kirkby Stephen. Not sure from there to Carlisle

Seeing as how you are taking the pack raft now just go along the beaches. Time your crossing of Dee, Mersey and Ribble carefully at low tide. You'll have acres of beach to go at.

Seriously though it's all a bit urban for a while round there! Some seriously flat ground up to ormskirk. The last part of the tpt to southport. Once you get to (de)Preston the forest of bowled has some quiet roads but I've never been off road there.

John climber can advise on the Liverpool bits I reckon.

All of the riding in the dales I can think of will take you out east a fair way.

How many days are you planning between Chester and Carlisle?

A serious suggestion - is the beach ride-able from Liverpool northwards. On google earth it looks sand up to south end of lake district but whether this would be fat bike only I dont know.
One or two river crossings or inland detours to find bridges.

Quite a bit of it is very fat bikable but would be hard going on skinny tyres. Some of it has leathally fast tides and quick sand.

The section between crosby and southport is firm though. Used to ride it in my Mtb over 20 years ago now...

Your route through th dales looks ok some tussoky stuff after ingleton if it goes where I think it does and some slightly crappy bridle way after sedbergh up through caughtly but it might have been improved since I lived in sedbergh but looks pretty good
