Re: New bikepacking guide book...
That sounds interesting!
Slight disclaimer; although I'm not so sure about how valuable a book about bikepacking (a bike, a bivvy bag and a stove...? ) I will definitely buy this book as it looks shiny with pictures of cool kit in.
Any details of this welsh-specific one?!

I bought one and it arrived today. It's very thin, with lots of pictures. I'll have a read when I go to bed and report back.

Sadly, having seen a copy, I think 'book' is overselling things a little. Much more of a pamphlet, catalogue or the sort of thing given away with MBUK, MBR, etc.

For all that Salsa have done for us, this is a very poor show from them

I know. Designing all these bikes we lust for and love, showing us how we can get out there and ride, inspiring many people. Terrible show on their part.JohnClimber wrote:Same hear, I saw a copy today.s8tannorm wrote:Sadly, having seen a copy, I think 'book' is overselling things a little. Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
Lets have a little competition. Answer the question below by replying here and whoever gets the answer correct by tea time tomorrow will win themselves a copy.
'Rules'
Only one answer per person. If you already have a copy please don't enter (why anyone would want two, I don't know) and if there's multiple right answers (you can pick the same answer as someone else) the winner will be decided by 'eenie meenie miney mo' or similar.
Question
What average moving speed in mph, do the authors predict a 'relaxed bikepacker' will ride at while on dirt road / gravel track?
Don't ask me to explain the question in anymore detail, don't ask how many days they've already been riding for or how many they have to go, don't ask if it's winter or summer or if it's raining or fine ... just have a guess!

Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
My guess is: 9mph
Better weight than wisdom, a traveller cannot carry
Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
As 9 is gone, I'll say 8.5.

Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
I'll take 8mph

Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
Going low - 6mph...
Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
6.5 mph I'm betting on.
Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
5mph! It's heavy going yeah?!
Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
Hmmm, gravel track can be quite quick. Its US so they're thinking in km/h
15km/h, so I'm real money that's about 9.4mph

Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
7.5 mph I'll go for then!
Re: New bikepacking guide book... WIN A COPY
5.5mph. I think that's still available....
