Velocity Dually tubeless?

Post by VeganGraham »

Looks like my Rooster frame and Dually rims should be here soon, so time to buy some tyres for it.
Price wise, it looks like a choice between Maxxix from Alltricks or Surley from Triton. Anything else I've missed?
Will both those tyres work tubeless on Dually rims with Gorilla tape and Stan's sealant? Anyone done it?
Any reason why I shouldn't drill the rims for larger Schraeder valves?
Do I need 3" tubes or will 2.35" tubes stretch a bit OK?

I've set a Dually / Chronicle up fine tubeless ... and yes, I drilled the valve hole.

In this case it was a valve cut from an old inner tube, Gorilla tape and cheap sealant from On-One :-bd

Thanks. I've tried all sorts of normal rim & tyre combinations tubeless and found out by trial and error what works and what doesn't.
I don't want to make too many errors at £100+ a pair though, so it's nice to know they'll work.

If you need a spare tube, Ive carried a SV19 Schwalbe (2.35) , These fill a 3'' tyre quite nicely and save some weight over a 3'' tube
Tried other brands of inner tube and they dont come up as big

My duallys work tubless.

Standard 25mm stans tape. I've managed a 120ti knard, an exo chonicle and a 2.4 ardent. Possibly another tyre I forget.

I used the pop bottle inflator to get them to seat and standard stans juice.

Thanks. Tyres, valves, sealant and tubes all ordered. Just need a frame now.

V tyre trax fatties are avaiilable from nextday tyres - a bit narrower than the others. My chronicles went on the duallies tubeless no bother and held air for a few hours without sealant. With sealant been good down to 10psi (And I was the biggest tubless cynic out there)
