Strava global heatmap:

This could be a useful resource for researching off-road tracks and trails, in addition to the usual OS Explorer and Google maps satellite images. The heat map shows all the routes ridden by cyclists using Strava, with the lines weighted by the amount of use they get. So potentially a good way of weighing up the viability of one bridleway against another.
Would be interesting to know how well it represents what's out there. Around Abergavenny where I live it's pretty impressive.
Clearly this is yet another way of taking the adventure out of adventure cycling, but still, it might help avert a few peat bog death marches.

Not hard to spot the trail centres is it? :D
I'd love something like that, but being able to exclude roads and everything under a certain threshold.

Here's one where I think I can clearly identify me as the only idiot ever to go down a certain track

I've found it useful when I needed to access the Black Canyon Trail from work. It was useful to know whether access across highways and canals was possible without reconnoitering the area. I also was able to find a new trail area that's been developed by people living in the area, and hadn't been published in any MTB sites that are popular for this area. http://labs.strava.com/heatmap/#14/-112 ... /gray/bike
