2 man tent ideas?

Post by ootini »

Hey all, my first trip went great, I'll do a proper write up in the morning. One thing that I wasn't happy with, was my cheapo tent. Anyone have any recommendations for a lightweight 2 manner ?

I'm not really I tent man but I did notice Terra Nova were shifting Zephyros 2 fairly cheaply in their summer factory sale.

EDIT: Oooh just remembered, Stevemorg was selling his MiniPeak in the classifieds, if it's still there, I'd buy that. The inners are single but you can get 2 person inners or just go without ... midges are quite stupid and generally can't figure out how to get underneath

Other than the two Stu mentioned, are there any others worth considering. Most people rave about the Vango Banshee but it's a little on the heavy side I think.

I think the Vango Zenith 200 is a much nicer tent than the Banshee ... still not light in bikepacking terms though.

I've not used one but the new alpkit small tent looks good. Didn't Rich and Tom use one the other week?

I use a Terra nova laser comp 1 which weighs a bit less than a kg but is a bit of a squeeze with 2 less so if you just use the outer which is what I do. There is a 2 man version though . Even lighter is the Terra nova laser photon. I'm saving up for Cuben fiber job from the States though which works out about $500 for 500g 2 man tent.

They did. Kept them dry I think.

Force 10 nitro 200 - sub 1kg when spilt between 2 and bomproof - I actually use mine just for me when I know the weather is going to be foul and I want some luxury. The 200+ adds the extra porch which is well handy in bad weather and is still about 1kg each between 2.

Budget is anywhere up to £150 I reckon. Less would be nice.

I picked up one of the budget price Terra Novas that Stu mentioned in the sale. Really, really nice.

You might be able to pickup a Wild Country Tristar 2 for that… not sure off the top of my head though. Good spacious tent, built like a tank, a little on the heavier end of the spectrum though.

If you're at the stage of "i need a better shelter"

Have you considered trying a tarp?
