Trek recalls all bikes with QR levers & disc brakes

Ride off with your QR levers undone and you may have a nasty accident, shock! :shock:

Trek have issued a recall on their bikes with disc brakes and QR levers that open 180 degrees. Apparently they can get caught in the rotor and cause an accedent. Take it to your dealer and they will swap it for 90 degree opening one and a £15 voucher.

can some one more technically minded tell me what's wrong with swapping your QR to the opposite side? I would also be a little concerned about wheel dropping out if QR undone!

Recall apperently not on their UK site so may be just a lawyer thing

Trek has received reports of three incidents, one resulting in quadriplegia and two with lesser injuries, according to the CPSC.

I don't know how they managed it, but it's a really, really stupid design:

Who on earth thought going past flat was a good idea for a QR? But yeah, I always have my QR opposite to where my discs are, mostly because I've made the mistake of touching a hot disc once before after a descent... not fun.

To be fair that must cover half of the QR's in curculation :???:
All the stock ones what have come with pre-built bikes have these.

I went through our entire fleet of Treks today. All of the new MTBs other than the Small size are affected (i.e. XS, M, L and XL). Of the Hybrids a few are marginal - the QR goes round far enough to contact the rotor but not so much that it could get caught.

Don't have Trek stuff, but none of mine go past flat. Must just be lucky with what I buy.

Just checked my Trek QRs, they don't go past flat. Thank goodness.
