Some of that is very useful. It's well worth registering via SMS.
But unless it's changed recently it's not the case that there is multi-network access for emergency calls in the uk.
I've said this before but it's good info. Get a Manx telecom £5 sim. On the mainland it will roam and use ANY available network for calls, texts and data. If there is a phone signal there you can use it.
Also consider getting a reconditioned Nokia brick as old phones have much stronger reception capacity than modern smart phones which are designed for an urban environment with a phone mast on every street corner.
