It's a cape actually! Perfect for my alter ego, Cuben Man
All I'll say is thank god it was reduced by 60% and I'll get some proper images sorted later, because I've just gone circa 500g for a two man tent!

Re: Cuben
Either it's a very big cape or you have a small shed.

Well that bit of fabric has taken 324g off the weight of my Laser Comp, and maximised internal space effectively converting it to two man shelter without living in too much misery.
Terra Nova Fastpack groundsheet, would I have paid £250 for it, err no way
too be honest it's expensive at £100

Re: Cuben
You spent £100 converting your Laser Comp to a single skin shelter by using a cuben groundsheet?
But aren't you (or both if doubled up) going to need bivvy bags to keep off the condensation and thus put back on most of the weight you have saved?
Wouldn't lighter/cheaper polycro have done the same job?

Re: Cuben
I'm sure the Terra Nova nylon groundsheet would have worked, but saving £150 on the Fastpack system was a deal I liked.
Having owned multiple single skin tents, I still use my North Face Vario out of all my tents most I've not experienced problems with condensation that make living with them a major issue, in fact bivvy bags cause way more condensation issues in my experience. Secondly worse case scenario, I'll use a PHD sleeping bag cover. On the warm nights when condensation is going to be a real issue I've got mosquito net bivvys.
The ultimate gain though is having effectively got a tent that can sleep two, take on pretty miserable conditions and comes in well under a kilo, with tiny pack size. Totally suiting my requirements. Although two of us have shared the Laser Comp, it is a squeeze, and this solves that issue coming in at about half the weight of the Vario tent.
Now starting to realise how much gear is in my attic.

Provided you don't pitch it on the side of Tarrenhendre* in a gale?Well that bit of fabric has taken 324g off the weight of my Laser Comp, and maximised internal space effectively converting it to two man shelter without living in too much misery
*Other steep exposed hills in Wales are available

Been in those winds :D
Re: Cuben
Based in my experience with my zpacks tarp, what you use to hold it up is the most important bit. I'd hazard a guess at some sort of walking pole under that MLD thing to stand up to that wind.
On balance, it was nowhere near as entertaining as DNF's film of his laser getting blown around on last years WRT :)
I know, I watched it until the bitter end in the hope of seeing the tent pegs getting ripped out of the ground and the whole disappearing over the edge and into oblivion.(it's amazing just what people will bother filming)

Re: Cuben
Don't think I saw that bit of film.

It's not that exciting
Who ever said 2g titanium stakes are much use doesn't know how to use them, the guys were held with MSR stakes, but no X or Y shaped pegs!
Lasting memory of that night, other than sliding down the tent all night as i thought it would collapse at any moment, was having no phone signal for hours yet full coverage at that point, speaking to my girlfriend and getting a weather report and her laughing, then my mate calling me from a bar, to leave a message to see how it was going! Now look at the lunacy it's caused me to do!!
