So obvious it's not worth mentioning.

Post by Kumquat »

Hi
I own a AAA L E D penlight that I bought off eBay for about 3 quid. I started using it when camping out in the back of my van.
I naturally take it with me when doing an overnight-er on the bike despite the fact that I also take a bar mounted light and a helmet mounted head torch.
I position it so when switched on, it shines into and illuminates my fuel bottle creating a cheery lantern effect. (I use the small translucent HDPE bottles and clear burning alcohol).
I know, a fairly mundane post and I bet one or two of you have done or do something similar already. However it got me wondering if anyone does anything in the same vein-some little geeky habit or foible that they feel is unique to them and hardly seems worth sharing ?

Nice.

For ITT rides when you're pushing on into the night. I generally don't like to have. Ahead torch on as it wobbles by lid around. So I use a cateye loop front light on the bars, but facing towards me/ downwards. That way I can see my food bag, and my pedals when getting on and off for gates or tussocks. Like cockpit lighting

+1 on the inside of tarp/tent wipedown...I use one of these - http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/ ... towel-p985 in the small size. The added advantage is after you wipe the condensation down, you have some wet towel to wipe away the morning eye snot.

I pack a folding toothbrush in my toolkit for brushing down the chain in the morning before applying fresh lubricant. Smooth shifting all day long.

Zip ties...in various lengths. Getting bleedingly obvious now.
