Dulyn Bothy damage!!

Post by summittoppler »

If anyone is planning on visiting the bothy at Llyn Dulyn in North Wales in the near future I'm afraid you'll have to plan somewhere else.
It looks like its been trashed by some mindless idiots!!

Here's the quote from the MBA website:

Dulyn, North Wales
15/11/2014
News has just been received that Dulyn bothy in North Wales has been extensively vandalised. A report indicates that all windows and furniture have been broken together with damage to the fireplace. More details will follow.

It's difficult to imagine who'd do that ... Dulyn isn't the easiest spot to reach and demands a level of effort to get there, I've always thought (wrongly, quite obviously) that the harder it was to reach a bothy by car, the safer it was.
May the bridges you burn light your way

I just don't understand why...? Lots if stuff, whilst I don't agree with it, I can sort of get the logic (or lack of) well the thought pattern anyway. But this I just can't understand...

Omg what kinda small minded twta would do that and what pleasure do they get out of it? They obviously stayed the night before trashing it I bet. Y r there so many knob heads about these days. It's not like they could drive there either its a good effort to get to it. What a shame that the subs to mba have to now pay for repairs instead of going towards a new bothy somewhere. I may aslo try n help out if I can when they do the work.

Bit of an update from FB Group on state of the bothy... back in use it seems and not too bad. Hopefully a one off.

Just a wee update on Dulyn bothy
Turns out the damage was not as bad as initial reports suggested and really only consisted of all the window panes being broken. Temporary repairs have already been made using old perspex sheets and the bothy is useable and the maintenance organiser was hoping to get up there this weekend to properly reglaze the windows, though we are not sure if he managed to or not.
Thanks again for all the offers of help. Some major work is likely there next year (unrelated to the vandalism) - keep an eye on the MBA website in the spring
