help with superstar rear hub please

Post by Mike »

So ive taken a hope pro 2 and changed the bearings etc but does anyone know if the superstar rear hub works on the same principle ive removed the outer cap\nut thing off the end of the axle but the shaft won't move do I need to hit it with a hammer to push it through as I can remove the free hub either. Any help would be grateful thanks

I stripped/cleaned/regreased a SSC Switch Evo hub last weekend. Just unscrewed the end caps and then tapped it out. No grubscrew.

The hubs are notoriously almost as noisy as Hope. Mine was silent after the regrease that I imediately stripped it down again to check if I'd put it back together wrong

Only the non drive side end cap will unscrew as the drive side is solid and when u turn it the whole shaft turns with it or should I place in a vice or mole grip the non drive side. Wondered if the drive side end cap is actually fixed part of shaft. I guess I need to clout it from non drive side!

Both end caps should come off ... give it a tap.

yeah, both end caps are screw. Afraid I am hazy with regard to what this all looked like but I am sure that I just unscrewed both caps with two spanners, one at each end, and then tapped the shaft out
