I wouldn't think the weight is the issue, it's strapped near the stem clamp, the stiffest part, your body weight is supported at the ends quite happily, about 30cm from the clamp. My concern would be abrasion from the straps, sorted with some tape quite easily.

Yep, thinking about it, I suppose it's more the (over)tensioning of the harness straps that could be an issue. Reckon I'll wrap some cut up tube over the top of my Niner forks as the straps on the Wildcat harness go through the fork and over the bars.

I don't think you could put enough tension in the harness straps to cause an issue with the bars that close to the stem, and it would still be less than the leverage you have at the end of the bars as you batter down some rocky descent with a rigid fork :)

To keep paint/ lacquer etc looking nice, a short length of road inner tuber threaded over the webbing straps works well. At the bars, I have bar tape fitted anyway, but make sure that it goes far enough toward to stem to offer some protection from the straps.

My bars have arrived. They definitely have a green tinge to them :geek: , but I think they're just about bearable considering they'll be mostly covered up. They weigh in at 203g.

My Deda bars arrived this morning, most definently a carbon wrap to them, shame they'll be covered in tape :(

Mine tip the scales at 216g :(
Not really liking the colour of the raw either :(
Not sure whether to send them back or just apply more tape...

The extra compliance of the carbon is really noticeable over the alloy version Ian. I'm finding them a big improvement, and actually work well for me flipped upside down. They look ok covered in Cinelli gel tape too :D
