Tent repair?

Post by DoctorRad »

I've just bagged a Saunders Spacepacker Plus with a hopefully pretty minor fault, eBay listing said "developed a small tear on one of the four doors, repaired with adhesive repair patches but ultimately due to the location will eventually fail again".

Not received it yet, but has anyone got any ideas for more permanent repair? Or just keep repairing as necessary?

As it's one of 4 doors, why not sew it shut permenantly?

Tenacious tape or grangers seam sealant have always worked for me. Both widely available in outdoor shops or online.

I notice AlpKit are selling repair patches and tape which look like they might do the job ... won't work with silnylon though.

Brilliant!

I still have one. I think the inner (hanging) elastics could do with replacement though. FWIW, I replaced the guys on the inner tent with some shock-cord and just hook them around the pegs of the outer tent.

Yeah, my sister and her husband swore by Saunders until they needed something 'even better' for canoe camping and Saunders closed. For £50 delivered, I thought I could hardly go wrong. I also have three Jetpacker's I've picked up on eBay...

Haven't used this lot for some time but this page https://www.scottishmountaingear.com/re ... nt-repairs gives a good idea of prices if you were thinking of a professional repair.
