Cable brakes, barharnessi, fleegles.

Post by Joshvegas »

I run fleegles on a short stem with bb7s the cabling is causing me problems. Due to the sweep the cables loop forward before they loop back as soon as I attach a dry bag with straps i start kinking the cable. I cant really see how a barharness will help as the same problem will occur. I tried fitting stubby barends inboard of my levers to keep the bag off the cables, this does work but the bag ends up really high and everything ends up so far away it gets a bit precarious. Because of the short stem there isnt really enough room to mount the bag so that the cables can cross over infront.

I would take a photo but i have just stripped the bars.

The only two things I can think of are getting more flexible outer thats compressionless (i am sure shimano riders used to use something to run gear cables under bar tape when they exited out the side of road levers.

OR

A vbrake noodle to put a sharper bend in the cable.

Opinions on the above or other ideas most welcome.

Cheers.

There were a few ideas on the thread below including my own but hoojum's is pure genius. Clearly work with Fleegles too.

The best way is just to have long cables. Maybe not as pretty.

The cables from the right hand controls follow the bars, across the top of the harness and then down to where they need to be.
The cables from the left hand controls go straight out forward curl around and under the harness then to where they need to be.

I'll try and get a photo later

Chew I see what you are sayomg but the length of cable wont really help as its the first 6inches or so that cause the problem as i snug the straps down.

The tubes off the crown are definitely worth a look that should steepen the bar to crown angle enough chers TheBroonDug

Like chew, I found longer cables were solution on my jones / bb7 set up. Use cable ties to keep neat when not running with cargo
