Wales coast-to-coast adventure race

Post by Pyro »

Not strictly bikepacking, but faintly related!

There's a round of the Adventure Race World Series going on in Wales at the mo, the ITERA race. To give some local context, the lead team (adidas TERREX, a UK team) have just gone through Strata Florida, they're leading by a couple of hours over another Brit team, Haglofs-Silva, and the Swedish team Sweco.

There's a load of stuff on the website (http://www.itera.co.uk) and live tracking of the teams on http://live.itera.co.uk if people want to see the route choices and tactics.

Oh, and none of these lot are allowed GPS navigation... It's cheating, I tell you ;)

I know Lucy who's in the team currently 3rd. She is an international standard orienteer. She wouldn't need a GPS

Rich - you mean second? So do I :)

Pretty much the whole of their team has represented GB at some point, either as a fell runner, orienteer or MTB-O'er (Bruce, their captain, is an old mate of mine)

Yep. I'm sure they were 3rd earllier though.

A quick scan shows some top quality competitors in othe teams too. Ladies 3pcx winner and a Fellsman winner and Chris Hope who has the Lakeland 200 record.
