Removing fork remote

This is slowly driving me mad.

I'm trying to simplify my bike by removing the fork remote it came with. It gets in the way, it's too bulky and not necessary any more. I've also got some Mary bars I want to try out ( worth a punt at £12). It's a fox 32F 29 air CTD. (on a ghost actinium HTX which has been very good to me if your interested).

I think I've found instructions for installing a remote so I've assumed I could reverse this to remove it.

Does anyone know of anywhere I could source the parts from I've been scouring the inter web for fox knobs with no luck. (compression selection lever, Trail Adjust knob and the internal gubbins I think I might need)

Has anyone else done this, am I better of getting if done properly in exchange for hard earned cash?
I am quite afraid of releasing the dark magic that happens inside the forks.

Selecting the forks for my 29er I specifically chose the Rebas with the crown adjust rather than the Poploc. It's one less cable to squash when fitting a bar bag.

This was the fork I really wanted but at the time it was only the pop lock version that Merlin had on sale. It was a crazy price difference so went with the pop lock. Annoyingly if you don't have the popp lock attached the lock sits in the locked position because it's sprung loaded. I read about that you can remove the spring though and just twist the top by hand. Not done it myself but plan to at some point. Maybe there is an equivalent for the Fox system.

I had some Reba's a couple of years ago and removing the poploc was a piece of cake compared to what that fox fork looks like it involves. I removed the poploc on mine because I kept forgetting to unlock it on the descents .

Got a Lyric on steroids with remote. This is what I did: Thread a short old cable (can be really short) through the spring loaded cap, just like you would to use the remote. Turn cap (might need helping hand) into desired position - lockout, in most cases, isn't more than a low speed compression damping. So you might want to adjust it a little, giving you support under braking and no bobbing whilst stomping on the pedals. Tighten bolt to lock cable in desired position.
Cut of the end of the cable and stuff it into the slit of the cap.

they guys at mojo are (or at least always were for me) very helpful.

They'll not only help you get the right bits ordered but will more than likely pass on a few pointers.

I've fiddled around inside a lot of forks but no CTD fox forks. Get inside there mate, its never as complicated as it looks. Just keep a structured approach to stacking the bits you take out!
