Axminster area bivy

Short notice, I'm getting off a train at 9pm tomorrow night at Axminster and heading to the Wessex Ridgeway. Going really lightweight with just the bivi bag and a summer bag.

Anyone camped near Wootton Hill, Champernhaves Marsh area? Or can recommend a good sheltered spot nearby.

I was riding around Champernhayes woods today and Wyld Warren next to it. Great area. Never bivvyed up there as it's pretty close to me, but some of the woods are pretty dense, should give fairly good cover. The ground will probably be pretty wet, we had some serious rain today, and the area is quite boggy too. Also very flinty soil.

I'd ride out of Axminster up Lyme Road, then left onto Sector Lane, then you'll come out where this map starts. Follow the line through the woods, I'm sure you'll find a spot.



You riding the Wessex Ridgeway? Lots of it is footpath only, which has put me off the idea. That plus the fact loads of the bridleways are through fields which are crammed with livestock at the moment.

The route I have is legal all on bridleways, http://my.viewranger.com/route/details/NDc0OTE= I'm a Wiltshire lad so not worried by livestock, gives me something to shout at.

I'm, pretty sure it will be a mess but this is all part of my MTFU training so I'll just have to get on with it.

There's a hobo with a bike, I'm pretty sure he lives in those woods. I've seen him a few times, either collecting wood and tying it to his bike, and wheeling it away, or in a corner of the woods, cooking on a campfire. Never managed to get more than a grunt out of him. Not sure he can use words. Could feature him in your video

Pretty sure some of the bridleways you've used on your route are non-existent or very overgrown at this time of year. Good luck!
