A new summer synthetic bag-any recommendations

Post by Mike »

So after this hot weather I've decided to go back to using my summerweight synthetic bag, but its old now so I'm in the market for a new one!

What are your thoughts and recommendations. I want it to pack down small and be a sensible weight. Are there any prima loft bags out there??

Anyone using a mountain raid?

Either have a look at the OMM stuff (not convinced they'll be warm though) or how about a synthetic quilt?

Enlightened in the US make synthetic quilts called 'Prodigy' you can buy them in the EU: http://www.trekking-lite-store.com/trek ... isunu1r9p6

The 2 season 50 degree is what I'd call a true summer quilt - good to 10 degrees C, weighs less than 350g but will set you back £165.

Another option might be a Cumulus 150 down quilt ... similar weight but much cheaper at £100. You can find them on the same link.

There's a Spanish outfit that also make nice synthetic quilts ... I'll try and remember what they're called.

Softie 3s make great summer bags - no too bulky, warm enough and not too expensive
