XLS Toe overlap

Post by welshwhit »

Morning all,

Finally my new Planet X XLS crosser is here and its ace!

Although I haven't had a chance to properly take it through its paces, I'm really very pleased with it. The one thing that I have noticed on the crosser is I have a bit of toe overlap. Now I went for this frame as its was pretty similar to my previous road bike in geometry and has a slightly longer tt,

Now, my question is, do I:
Option 1: man up a bit and except that this probable happened on my old bike but I never noticed.....

Option 2: swap the crankset for a 165mm version that may have (if I recall correctly from a previous thread...) a benefit to my dodgy knees!

What do you all think?

If I try, I get toe overlap with my Amazon. In practice, it's never been a problem.

I get toe overlap with mudgaurds on my crosser (put them on winter for commuting). Not a problem in general...until you start doing stoppies with a little whip, then it all goes Pete Tong :???:

Moral of the story, don't attempt to do tricks if you get toe overlap

I used to have a CX bike that had some toe overlap. Moment you did anything technical, it was a major PITA. Sold the frame in the end.

I get toe overlap on my Jones when using flats (descending with dropped heels, axle under arch). Very occasionally I'll buzz the Nate up front, I was concerned initially, but in reality it's just not a problem.
