Tyres for cyclocross bike?
I'm thinking about converting my old cyclocross bike into a off-road bike-packing 'mountain' bike. Can you recommend any cyclocross or narrow 29er tyres which would be suitable for Highland routes - a mixture of mud and rocks etc? The bike currently has studded 700C x 40 tyres, so has clearances for those, and possibly a little larger.

I'm loving the Smart Sams on my cross bike. Pretty cheap, too.

The WTB Nano 40C is a good tyre, goes well on tarmac as well as softer dirt. Not a mud tyre though and not sure about durability yet. Panaracer Cinder X were my fave all-rounder before that, seemed fairly big for a 35C.

I see On-One have a 'gravel' tyre in their line up. Comes in 2 sizes inc' 40c and costs 15 quid ... it must be good, it's got the word gravel in its name

Thanks, I'll have a look at those.
