I seem to remember that somebody, might be Ian, said the 2.4's were very different beasts to the 2.25's.
Is this in a bad way?
As my new bike is rigid I'd like a bit of squish at the front end.
Or are Ikons the way forward?

Re: Maxxis Ardent 2.4's
Ikons are reet fast rolling and surprisingly grippy (for the limited time I had one).
Ardents are not as fast, but more grippy. Personally I never had a problem with the 2.25 (it tended to be better run rather soft) but the 2.4 is reasonably fast rolling and really rather grippy. Its certainly big too.
I've had a two or three, none tubeless, all worked tubeless regardless.
Just to be a bit geeky...
On an Arch EX, 60mm wide. (Even wider on a dually, too wide for the back of an el mar)
a folding Exo 2.4 was 885g

Re: Maxxis Ardent 2.4's
Very different, I've used both tubeless on P35 rims and don't think that much of the 2.25s (for that size I want something more wet-conditions capable like a Purgatory), but the 2.4 EXOs are my go-to dry/loose conditions tyre. Also my main choice for loaded riding. They're not good in mud but I like them everywhere else. I think the Rubber Queen 2.2-2.4 may be a better all-round big tyre, at least on the front, but haven't got round to trying one. ie, 2.4 Ardents are doing a good enough job.
Edit to add, new Ikon 2.35 rear / Ardent 2.4 front could be a really fast and cushy summer combo.
