What sleeping bag?

Post by Teetosugars »

Apologies if this has been done a gazillion times before, but I'm after some advice..

Ok, so I've a mountain Hardware Lamnia 0, and a Millet pre-prodcution sample,- this seems a bit too lightweight regarding fill etc.. but would really like to just have 1 that covers all the bases..

So, whats the reccomendation- only stipulation is it will have to fit in a Viscasha..

Cheers all.

Questions, questions ... Down or Synthetic? What's your budget?

I love a good game of 'hunt the sleeping bag'

The price of down has shot up and so have down sleeping bags. However, there's been some good deals about on 2013 Rab bags of late which would fit the bill, if you can find anywhere with some left.

Other options worth looking at IMO are, Western Mountaineering (a Highlite maybe?) and Culmulus http://www.highmobilitygear.com/PBCPPla ... ID=1172579 a liteline might do the trick.

If you're happy with synthetic and like your Lamina then how about a Lamina 32/35?

Just remember that synthetic bags degrade quite quickly ... something like 3 years with 'regular' use. A well cared for down bag should last 15 - 20 years.

Have a look at the Vango Venom range. I've been very happy with my 400 so far. You can get a good deal on them if you shop around.

I'm very happy with my Venom 300 (which was £70!) and with a liner has done me down to -3/-4.*

* Based on what people say on here though I reckon I might sleep quite warm so take this how you will...

My venom 400 will fit into an alpkit 8l drybag with a little bit of room to spare or in a 13l along with a down jacket and a little bit of room to spare.
