Replacing a section of DAC featherlite NSL pole..

Post by RobLyon »

Hi All,

I tripped over a guy line and snapped a section of my tent pole, luckily the tent came with a repair sleeve so I could finish off my stay. Now I'm home I'm looking to repair/replace the pole but it seems an odd size/length. The main OD of the pole is 9mm and its effective length is 31cm. All together its 10 sections and 303cm.

How accurately do you think I need to match the diameter/length? Thinking of buying this which is Ø8.5 and 32.5cm long. Ideally I could repair my pole with 1 section and have a whole spare pole but it isn't likely to be 303cm long and there's not much provision to shorten them? The descriptions are rubbish as there's clearly 2 different lengths in the kit.

An other option is these that are Ø9 but they are 40cm long. I'm not sure if the pressfit is interchangeable with NSL as it looks straight gauge so may be able to cut down the length?

Thanks in advance as always,

Rob

From extremetextils website i've noticed you cant just mix and match 8.5mm and 9mm poles. Also the min, order is 160E so thats them out.

I have found Hilleberg tent poles that are the correct diameter and overall length but they have less/longer sections.

Ideally i could buy this one, pinch a section and make a whole spare pole. I guess to trim the length you have to trim the end pieces only.

Can't interchange DAC sections of different types, sadly.

When I've been pushed, I've bought spare OEX pole sets and used the various sections to produce something new. The quality isn't quite DAC but it's not bad and the price is considerably less.

Also note, since Brexit Extreme no longer deal with the UK.

Like Stuart said. I have done this myself and cut the new section to length.

Have checked in the shed, and only have 8.5 and 9.5 mm DAC sections

9mm DAC pole sections available from Taunton Leisure

I bought new poles for a vango direct from them a few years ago. I recall there being a few options and standard lengths which you cut to size

Thanks for the responses, I think I need to pop into go outdoors and have a look at their OEX poles.

ULOG seemed to lose interest when they realised it wasn't for a Hilleberg tent so I might give Taunton leisure an email to.

I couldn't post the Taunton Leisure link but it popped on Google. They sell a section for about £12
