mulled wine, two blankets and a hot water bottle too!
Re: A Thin White Line on Vimeo
Missus is out at the flicks tonight, so I've just spent a very pleasant hour watching this. Enjoyed it immensely, especially the American getting his forks welded up 2/3 through the race.

I've only watched part of this yet but am I the only one who thinks ... dear God, I never want to do a snow race?

May the bridges you burn light your way

I was chatting to Andy Heading last Sunday, marshalling at the Trigger fell race, he and Al are doing the race this year. Can't believe it's 13 years since his heroics, fingers crossed the snow conditions are better this year.

I also spent last night watching it as I had control of the remote. Big respect to all who enter it, no excuse to get out at this time of year now after watching it :?

I remember reading Jill Homers book about her attempts on that ride
I couldn't quite empathise with her as I lay there in 40 degree heat on a sun deck in Georgia (non-USA version) sipping a beer with factor 20 on!
Its definitely in the 'I love the idea of doing that' category! :)

I think the thing that struck me was the fact that it was pre fat bikes. Wider rims, but not a pugsley or moon lander in sight. I don't imagine it is any easier now, but I'm sure more of it is rideable.
Great film. Any more like this out there for free?

my thoughts exactly on the lack of fat bikestommid wrote:I think the thing that struck me was the fact that it was pre fat bikes. Wider rims, but not a pugsley or moon lander in sight. I don't imagine it is any easier now, but I'm sure more of it is rideable.

Enjoyed this and again I had same thoughts about the fat bikes. Aidan is doing it this year isn't he?
Re: A Thin White Line on Vimeo
Look fwd to watchin that later. The Idita was the race that fascinated me most as a teen getting into MTBs, when Mike Kloser raced it.
Paul Errington did the Arrowhead on a converted Genesis iO a few years ago. 2.5 tyres on snowcat rims I think. He wanted to do all his races that year (Arrowhead, Yak Attack and a few others) on the same bike, a 26" rigid SS. Nuts/heroic/simply sponsored very loosely buy some rubbish brand w/o a fat bike at the time? ; )
A good write up with photos from Jenn Hopkins - http://shoestring-racing.blogspot.co.uk ... -race.html
Remember this next time you have a minor faff fixing a flat mid ride!
