Anyone got Mavic cross one wheels

Post by FLV »

I got a pair of cross ones the other day. I have spyre mechanical brakes. The spokes / caliper pull arm clip each other when fitted normally.

I'm going to have to space the rotor out about 1mm and max out the adjustment on the caliper.

I have some 0.5 spacers which can clear when in the work stand but it's still close. I think it may touch when yarping on the bars out of the saddle.
A check with a quick 1mm plastic cutting makes me think it may work. (Plastic one would melt I expect so need metal )

Anyone else got these wheels?
Or brakes?

(Brakes were fine with hope hubs)

Might be a long shot could be the dish of the wheel, especially if it's the back one. Mavics are usually pretty good brand new - even the "value" ones - but Id go get it checked at a shop.
I'm just going outside ...

front one.

dish 'looks' ok with my cardboard dish gauge. (I use the word gauge in the loosest terms). ill go borrow a proper one to be sure but it'd have to be a long way out and noticable i'd think to pull the spokes into the caliper

I've got those wheels. Fine with BB7 ... or they were till I buckled the front during my tubeless / glitter experiment

Dave, Have you returned your spyre brakes under the recall notice? I sent mine straight back, but am waiting for the replacements!

Just thought I'd mention it in case you didn't know about it http://www.bikeradar.com/road/news/arti ... kes-39290/

Cheers!

I got mine from Taiwan (ebay). I've been messing about for weeks trying to get them swapped. I've finally been offered a refund (and got some proper postage details from the seller this morning), but have to send them back now.

I had origonally decided to keep using them but I might send them back this week now.

Hmpf... 2 bikes out of action!

I just got an email from Hargroves Cycles, where I bought mine, and they have just got the replacement models in stock, so mine will ship this afternoon or tomorrow.
