Fargo V2 fork or Firestarter steel fork?

Post by Ben98 »

Does anyone know any major differences between these 2, and if so, which should I get?
Thanks

Axel to crown is different (Fargo 468, Firestarter 483), so it'll depend what bike they're going on?

Also, the cage mounts are on the back of fork leg on the Fargo and the front of fork leg on the Firestarter. If you're thinking of going down the route of Anything Cages, the latter is less catastrophic as it won't pitch you over the bars* when they work loose.

*this is not a guarantee ;)

I have a fargo that I bought for my 26"er HT. I wanted rigid but wanted to keep the geo of a 140mm fork. Worked out pretty well. I'll be using the fargo on my 29er for the 2tonOgravel.

The fork is to go on a surly karate monkey, but I don't know what the axle to crown is?
Thanks for the speedy replies

Its the Axel to the top of the fork distance. Suspension forks are usually quoted with a level of sag included.

Looks like the fargo fork would be a perfect match

Cheers Guys, Fargo fork it is :D
And Stuart, if I was getting wheels built and I was putting gears on the back, I would get an enabler fork and put a ss hub on the front. But its a ss already and I've got standard spaced wheels :P

I'm guessing the new redesigned anything cages have been more thoroughly tested?
