MYOG ... Strap alternative.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

I'm sure that everyone uses straps to hold something onto their bike at some time. Some straps are good and easy to use, others are a little lacking. The straps that come with Salsa Anything cages are in the second category ... too short, with fiddly buckles. With cold, wet hands they can be a real PITA. Searching round the workshop for a replacement I came across a roll of shockcord and an old tent pole ... the marraige of these two items has resulted in some non fiddly, foolproof straps. The extra knot / loop allows a greater range than without ... simple and hopefully effective ;)

Looks good.

I found one of these in my garage left over from my motorcycling days:

I'm sure I can do something with it to make it into a handlebar harness.

I reckon some sort of 'stiff back' fastened to the bars that's fitted with eyelets or loops for the cargo net hooks to go into and it'd be a winner ;)
