Wildcat Ocelot or Alpkit Possum?

Post by Zoglug »

With the release of various part frame bags recently, I just wondered which of the ocelot or possum would be your choice and why? Reason being I can't quite decide right now

Can't comment on the Possum but the Ocelot is getting a lot of use on my bike. Very handy and well made as you'd expect from Beth.

I run a Revelate Tangle which I really, really like. The ocelot seems like it in terms of shape whereas the possum seems a "funny" cut, wedged, which I imagine affects the luggage space. If that's the case I'd go for the ocelot. Every bit of wildcat gear has also been really well made (so much as I know).

My Ocelot arrived for my CX this weekend and first impressions are very good. Very well made as you'd expect, and its huge. I'll report back with how much stuff I can cram into it for next weeks winter Bivi, but i'm expecting it to swallow my Alpkit mug, tent poles/pegs, tools/pump/tube, breakfast and night meal without any issues.

Not seen the Possum's yet so can't really comment.

Not seen the Possum so would not want to comment on it.

The Ocelot is excellent. I have got either loads of food plus camera, mibile and an OS map (in a XL size bag) or a 3l camelbak on the left side and a few bars on the right. I then used one of my bottle cages for tools.

Chew,

just wondering how you found the Ocelot and what you managed to cram in it?

I've got a medium Ocelot and I'm surprised just how roomy it is. I've not used it yet but I reckon it'll hold all my cooking gear, spares, tools, pegs, poles, (some) food, plus all those bits and bobs that seem to suddenly appear just when you think you're packed ;)

I've got a large on the CX and managed to cram in:

Alpkit mug with cooking equipment (good fit)
tent poles & pegs
Bike stuff (pump, tube, mutlitool, etc...)

Still plenty enough room to hamfistidly cram in half a dozen mini Soreen loafs.

All in theres probably similar capacity to the frame bag on my 456.

Went for the small-sized alpkit one on the release day. Stumbled across it and I know alpkit stuff sells out fast, so bought it straightaway. Use it to carry the following
-2x 29er tubes
-Pump
-patches
-multi tool
-small coil lock

It will also squeeze in an energy gel and front door key but not much more

I've been pleased with it but I've yet to see/feel other models. I have both handlebar and seatpost harnesses from wildcat and wouldn't hesitate buying more from them. Guess, you'll be happy with either model :D
