Hello.
Just signed up to the forum and saying hello. Never done any bikepacking before but I can't get enough of reading about people's adventures. I like the idea of the bear bones WRT alot, hopefully I can get a few solo trips in beforehand. Looking for kit already!

Welcome to what may become a very slippery slope*
*If you do the WRT this may prove to be very apt.

Hi OneSpeed, I have many gears but also only one speed "slow"
. Welcome aboard, what area do you live?

Re: Hello.
I started riding bikes that were cutting edge technology and I've slowly upgraded over the years to three bikes, all singlespeed and one with suspension forks, probably the opposite to most people, im familiar with alot of the equipment as I've got a fair bit of scrambling/mountain walking experience.
I live in Liverpool and I've ridden all over the place although at the moment im trying to ride from my house as much as possible.
I had already planned a couple of GPS routes leaving from my house to north wales, sleep over and back again.
Reading people's stories really helps as far as equipment and kit goes.

Re: Hello.
If you fancy joining in with the Winter bivvy in a couple of weeks, I'm sure enough kit could be found ... it'd make a good introduction.

.
I'm Wirral based and tend to do most of my bivi'ing over in North Wales, I'm planning on coming down next Sat 14th for Stu's Winter ride
Let me know if you ever fancy a bivi also if you want to borrow some kit for next week let me know I can help out with some (but not everything)
cheers
Wait for me...
Re: Hello.
Thanks for the welcome all.
Cheers for the invite but im on call for work and my kit would definitely be on the heavy side where bikepacking is concerned, on the upside all the extra work over Christmas means a new bike and top gear in January.
Hi Barney I've been looking at numerous routes and I would think it would be pretty simple to meet en route. At the moment im thinking ruthin coming via frodsham from home.
Is there any good 'what gear' threads on here, wouldnt mind seing the bits that come recommend

Re: Hello.
I started off on the WRT last year and it is indeed, a slippery slope...
...still, everyone here is friendly and happy help with any questions :) One of the group rides (I've only been on one) is the best way of getting to know the guys here.
Chester based here, didn't realise there were a few local people to me, always good to know
