Re: Cannock area 19/6
Tried searching for Birches but googlefu is not working. Can I get a link to its where-a-boots?
And is the likely bivvy spot likely to have trees so I am likely to be able to swing a hammock from? No drama if not as I'll be quite happy in my new-to-me Duomid

Birches is shorthand for Birches Valley Visitor’s Centre WS15 2UQ. That isn’t a good spot to leave the car overnight though and they charge 8 quid a day parking but happens to be the spot we met up last time.

Cheers for that.
Steve I'll be driving up the M40 so will basically be coming past your place so could pick you up on the way if you feel like a lift. Will leave the hammock at home too.BigdummySteve wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 6:00 pm I’m still up for thisbe nice to see ya, been a while.

Ok then it’s a Merry band , I’m just off to hospital to get my elbow drained somehow I’ve burst the sack of fluid on it and I’ve got a golf ball growing out of my arm ,
Burty 7 is no problem get gramps just to let you know what pub we’re using , it’ll actually be feckin great to see everyone again , the old quilt and bivy bag hasn’t been out since me and gramps went down the long mynd nearly 2 years ago , I’ve got that excited I nearly let a bit of wee out , but that’s just age , Tim of you want to get up there early mate I’m sure Paul could meet you before 3 , not sure about myself as I may have a few last bits tie tie up at work as I’m off the following week but I’ll let you know on Friday, I’d say the earliest I can be there is around 12
Men until next week when the oldies ride again ( yes that includes you Burty) Reg I shall partake in your beverages on your behalf

Yeah, I only live about a 3/4 hour pootle away from the meet-up spot so you could park up at/near my place if you want a gentle warm up

Thanks Paul. That'd be ace. Not looking for anything marathonic given my fitness/fatness but a few hours ride to the meet up would be very welcome. Will PM Steve to see if he wants a lift and if could be three of us. Let you know.

I’ve done about an hour of cycling since last July due to two dodgy ankles and family stuff so I’m going to be going slow and steady

Went to the horns to see about booking, told her 7 poss 8 people, she said we will need 2 tables, and would have to confirm by Tuesday am, better tomorrow if i can, it's changed hands and is very busy nowadays,
So provisionally booked 2 tables for 19.45pm only slot left if I confirm tomorrow i have to pay a deposit for it,
Are we all happy with this, cater for veggies and vegans as well

Re: Cannock area 19/6
Is anyone bothering with a brew kit/breakfast or shall we aim for a cafe first thing? Someone mentioned we'll need to be up and gone very early so I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle (and the extra bag I have to strap on)
I'm just going outside ...
Re: Cannock area 19/6
In my case it'll depend on the weather - if its like today, i'll just pack my lightweight bivvy which takes up 1/4 of the space of my tent so there'll be plenty of room for my stove.
