GPS and mapping

Post by JohnClimber »

Please can you recommend me a small lightweight GPS and the mapping software for it (free if possible ;) )

I've Memory Map on my laptop but my current (old) Garmin is too bulky and my tiny Holux has just died

Garmin Dakota ~£145 & Garmin OS 1:50k maps from ioffer for £25 or lookylikey OS mapping from talkytoaster for free. Bikehike.co.uk for creating tracks to transfer. Budget a tenner for a mount.

Etrex20 or 30

The 20 can be had for 128quid, runs on 2xAA batteries, my rechargeables last about 25 to 30 hours.
The 30 can do heart rates too

Buy the full uk OS mapping for 25ish quid.

Job done
