computers / gps

Post by FLV »

Sooo.

I generally like to know where / how far in particular I've been on each ride.

I have been just using my etrex 30 on a day to day basis but it is now getting properly covered in crud, and is massive.

Is there any other options that give me data that's up-loadable to garmin connect and doesn't cost the earth?

Garmin edge 200 if you like a bike computer and only want speed/time/etc and some basic track following. Claimed 14hrs runtime, I've had a bit more from it. Around £80-90 or thereabouts.

If you didn't want all of that a Garmin GPS watch is a bit cheaper.

Mate has a Bryton which are generally cheaper but it doesn't seem all that reliable or as well supported as Garmin.

just after speed distance and perhaps average speed I guess.

I'll look at those watches too but the 200 is only a bit cheaper than the etrex

Have a look at the Foretrex series. I have the 301, which is very compact. Approx 15 hour run time on lithium aaa's.
