Re: Tour Divide 2013
I think bigger tyres are comfier and roll faster but some prefer lighter tyres in a 2.0 size. Sagauro 2.2s were really good, Race Kings would be a bit faster on the smooth stuff but ime scarier on the looser, faster sections. Hopeless in the wet too, where Saguaros are a lot better than you'd expect. Got 2 cut tyre flats tho, riders on LUST or EXO type casings seem to do better or were just lucky.
My write up's posted on the Jones blog for anyone interested - http://www.jonesbikes.com/?option=com_w ... &Itemid=58 kit and general race experience report.

Re: Tour Divide 2013
While i remember......
For this summers trip i booked myself on the Banff Transporter between Calgary Airport and Banff, but due to the flooding we had to cancel and make other plans.
I'd taken the option to have a cheap fixed ticket rather than a flexible one so i wasnt eligible for a refund, but because of the conditions they gave me a voucher for a free trip.
So if anyone on here is racing the route next year let me know and i can send the voucher across

Oh yes, all 4 volumes are well worth buying if you've even the slightest interest in the TD.Zoglug, have you read the Cordillera?
May the bridges you burn light your way
Re: Tour Divide 2013
I've not read them yet, but have ordered the first volume off amazon as I got vouchers from work for my birthday! Really looking forward to getting it.

My nine year old daughter loves reading it. "When are you going to ride it dad?"
'Hmm, not sure, ask your mum when I'm going to ride it!'

Re: Tour Divide 2013
Ian, try "'wife', I have to ride it, it's all for her you see.." )

Cjell's write up is great. Really enjoyed it and made me laugh, he has great attitude to it all. I didn't know what to make of him for a moment when this tattoo'd guy in radiation goggles, baseball cap and a wifebeater rode towards me in the Basin. Thought he was an out-there tourer, seemed a pretty interesting character anyway, then recognised the bike from a pic on a forum. I just was fried-tired. He's a really genuine guy, an under-rated bad-ass on the bike by the way he was going.
