For sale: A little slice of heaven
It's hard to let go of this but we're selling our house!
See the rightmove advert here
Two x 300m² 300 year old stone barns.
One fully (ecologically) renovated and the other partially renovated (the 2nd was planned to be a rental gite and/or B&B and so income is almost already sorted).
8.5 acres of land in the middle of the forest in an amazing region of France!
A few outbuildings, greenhouses, an old stone bread over etc...
More importantly there's sublime riding literally from the doorstep!!!
Thousands of km of rocky technical singletrack, smooth forest trails, big climbs, rolling hills and every other stunning riding terrain imaginable.
Take a look around my blog if you'd like to see more about the riding in the area.
Loads more to say but take a peep if you're interested and get in touch if you'd like to know more (maybe come out for a visit and I'll show you around the local trails).
Cheers, Gairy.

That set of beams and trusses are stunning and the kitchen's lovely... I can only imagine you'd be gutted to be parting with a place like that.
I wish I could make you an offer but you beat me to a set of brakes
:D

Re: For sale: A little slice of heaven
thanks guys,
we're selling because the wife wants to be nearer to friends/family, we want more people nearby so that our kids can have people to play with and because my back has been pulverised by the work here over the last five years and needs to take it easy.
we'll be VERY sad to leave as it literally is perfect for us in 90% of our criteria but unfortunately the other 10% is pretty important!
so.....who wants it (and then i can come and visit for bikepacking trips :D ).

Read your website after I posted that message, so understand that with young kids etc you might want to be closer to people. (Un)fortunately looking at that website made me love the place even more!! It looks like you've done an amazing job. A friend of mine wants to set up a mountain biking business in France and this place could just be amazing. The only issue is, of course, that he doesn't have the money laying around to do it with.
My flat in south London didn't cost all that much less than this, which makes me think there must be a way to do this - the only problem is that my well-ish paid job in London pays for the mortgage! Much to ponder over. I guess you must have an idea of how much income you hoped to generate from the renting of the 2nd barn, how much of the year you'd be able to fill the rooms etc...? Perhaps I should be dropping you a DM / email...

Re: For sale: A little slice of heaven
i'll throw some numbers together when i get back on monday.
right now i'm about to set off for Annecy and the Etape du Tour (looks like i'll be starting but i drove the final climb yesterday and i'm very much unconvinced that i'll be in any state to finish the damn thing!!!).
wish me luck!

Re: For sale: A little slice of heaven
Looks like you had fun over the weekend, from your blog post! An idea of some anticipated figures would be great. Out of interest, what do you do for a living? Presumably you've been working out there over the past few years whilst you've been doing the place up? Just considering the options for how something like this might work...

Will write a proper reply but there might be a sniff of a delay as we're away until Saturday now (sorry).
