Summer's arrived - weekend plans?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Well it looks like summer has landed (I've had to put my vest on), has anyone got anything interesting or otherwise planned for the weekend?

I shall be out tomorrow night, hopefully introducing someone to the joys of not carrying much. Fingers crossed I'll be able to get him to leave his tent, gas cooker and car camping mat behind :)
May the bridges you burn light your way

Gotta get at least a day ride in this weekend as the wife and I are moving house next week. New place needs total redecoration. Wallpaper stripped, woodwork stripped, floors sanded. And that's just the preparation!!! And I hate decorating, truly, truly hate it. There is a bright side though. Once it's all done I will be owed several nights bike packing, maybe even a week so could check out the full "Historic Highways" route I'm working on.

Been doing a little bit on the road bike lately, trying to drop a few lbs before I head to Iceland in a few weeks. Looking forward to a nice few hours road riding on Sunday with a mate who I haven't seen in ages. If only I could convince him to get a mountain bike....

Got a fair bit to look forward to this summer - trekking in Iceland for a week, couple of weeks in the Black Forest - family camping trip but i'll have the MTB with me. Really looking forward to the Black Forest as I went there a few years back as a lazy slob so will be interesting to see another side of it now i'm more active.

Anyone doing the Big Bike Bash in the New Forest in August?

Riding north to the Norfolk coast to bivi.

Coolest place will be under the stars. Plenty of insect repellent packed...

Great trip. Underbiked (cx. bike, 3 punctures and 1:1 bottom gear) and unprepared for midge onslaught at 2am but two descents of Minton Batch and sunrise over the long mynd from a nice spot under stiperstones made up for it.

Had a pootle on the bikes with the family (hate being injured but legs beginning to work again)
Saturday picked up a tarp and bug net. The kids had a play in the garden on Sat night with just the bug net
