Fat Bike - 2013 Salsa Mukluk 3

Post by paul78 »

Decided that I probably won't get to use this much before my new fat bike arrives later in the year so rather than let it gather dust its up for sale.

Salsa Mukluk 3 in large ... currently singlespeed but I have everything but cassette and chain to put gears back on as per standard spec.

Does not include the front rack or cages

Had very little use with a few marks on the frame.

£900 .. would prefer collection from Newcastle but can discuss.

thanks

Paul,

Can I get some more info and photos of this please fella?

It's the right size and seems to be exactly what I'm looking for but if you can tell me:

1. What years model is it?

2. Exactly what condition is it all in?

3. What components is it sporting (incl. geared bits)?

4. Are all of the bits to make it geared in good nick?

5. What are you replacing it with (and why)?

6. If you've got a load more photos then send them to me (simplegairy - at - gmail - dot - com).

Let me know as my life's going to be changing pretty soon and a fat-bike is quite likely to receive wife-approval and this seems a better option than a new on-one (I've not got a large budget).

Cheers, Gairy.

Hey Gairy

The bike is a 2013 model ..

http://salsacycles.com/bikes/mukluk_3

Condition is very good bordering on excellent .. a few cable rub marks but its only been ridden a handful of times.

All geared parts are unused and as per original spec in link.

I will be replacing it with a carbon beargrease .. not available yet but will be getting it in a few months time ish and between now and then I am training on and racing my El Mariachi singlespeed.

Will take more pics if you are still interested.

Definitely still interested but need to do a little asking around (quite likely just on here and a mate I know) to see if people think that this is the right option for me (as I know next to nothing about fat bikes).

I also need to see if the finances will stretch that far at this point (as I was thinking that an On-one would be the cheapest option but wouldn't have bought it until late autumn).

If you find time to take more photos then great, email 'em on over otherwise I'll be in touch.....

Cheers, Gairy.

Now reduced to a 'bearbones' price of £750 ... no rack, bottle cages or gears included now .. just as seen as a singlespeed with Salsa 32t front ring and velosolo 16t rear ring and spacer kit.

Paul,

I was going to email you saying that talks with the Mrs had broken down due to irreconcilable differences over issues of price and timing (she wants me to spend less and wait until we've moved house).

But.....this price drop puts a whole new slant on things!

I've already got a bunch of components which would enable me to re-gear the bike (will 'regular' mechs/shifters work?) and so am not put off by the single-speedness at all.

You've already mentioned that you'd rather it was picked-up from Newcastle but that's going to prove tricky from France and so do you have any idea what sort of money it'd cost to get the thing shipped out here?

Let me know about the above and maybe it can happen!

Cheers, Gairy.

Hey

I have no idea about shipping to France.

Know anyone coming from the UK to near you ?? Could always fire up messages on a few forums see if anyone is coming your way as assume cost of shipping may put it beyond your wifes acceptable limit :)

Not sure yet - need to see who might be able to bring it out but that price doesn't sound prohibitive!

Likely either Cornwall or London village but could be a number of other locations depending on who has space and other factors too dull to mention.

You sure that regular gearing components will be ok to turn it back into a geared beast???

Will have a final chat with Mrs Boss and get back to you asap (though I'm hopeful that it'll be 'on').

Wish me luck.....

Good luck !!!!

I don't mind dropping it off most places in the north so let me know.

Yeah the stock bike is geared and I just like to ride SS so made most of the alternator drop outs to let me do that ... super versatile bike.
