WRT - Last minute appeal
I know Stu has a separate thread but…
my mate has bailed so I’m on my own, I don’t want to do it solo but would be gutted to have to bail at this late stage.
would anyone mind if I joined them/their group?
unfortunately I’m not a whippet but more of a plodder (my route was to take in about 12 of the checkpoints missing out Aberystwyth)
either post below, PM or email any responses/invites please…

fingers crossed I won’t be watching the forum all weekend!

Re: WRT - Last minute appeal
Mark you'll easily find someone to ride with at the start. At present either Matt or Markendro would seem like a good bet. Don't bail ... you'll be kicking yourself all year if you do afterall it looks like it could be the first dry WRT in 4 years

May the bridges you burn light your way

Re: WRT - Last minute appeal
I did it solo last year and I think about the longest I managed to ride by myself was about an hour. The checkpoints form quite a natural big or small loop (almost like it's planned) so it's not like everyone will be all over Wales.
I'm probably solo this year though I may ride with Mike and Ray for a bit and see how we go. I'm not into stopping at pubs* and cafes for food which is where I am going to loose people I expect.
Do turn up or you'll be gutted. You are welcome to start out riding with me** if you like...after an hour or so of that riding on your own will probably seem a good idea
*I may stop for a pint
** 87.5 miles (slowly) and planning to go to the seaside

Re: WRT - Last minute appeal
I've started on my own in the past, but found that i've spent the majority of the weekend riding with others. You'll tend to find everyone has similar routes and are either going clockwise or anti.
There will be plenty of people in the same position so when you arrive say hello at the Tipi and we'll sort something out.
As Stu says Matt and Mark have already offered, so we can set you up. Think of it like a blind date
Like Shaun says it'd be a shame to be sat at home rather than riding in the sun and sleeping under the stars.

As the others say, don't bail, you will find people to ride with. I think you'll find a great deal of camaraderie amongst the entrants and make new friends.

See you at the start, we'll work something out.
I think I was planning the same loop, missing Aber out, I've been to Aber and unless your a massive fan of Morrisons it ain't great :) plus I'll be at the seaside all week.
I'd just be worried you wouldn't be able to keep up as previously when I've been out with Ian & Stu they've kind of held me back a bit.

You're all cursed to biblical rainstorms of Noah-esque proportions thanks to that comment from Stu... afterall it looks like it could be the first dry WRT in 4 years ...

Re: WRT - Last minute appeal
Sorry about that, I'd blame it on 'having an off day' but you can't have those every ride. If anyone is thinking of riding (taking a real beasting) with Matt at the WRT, then here (s)he is ... just so you know what to expect.I'd just be worried you wouldn't be able to keep up as previously when I've been out with Ian & Stu they've kind of held me back a bit.

Ummmm, I'll do the comedy, although to be fair, she looks more manly and I'd put a fiver on my breasts are larger :)

Yes but have you got a 'special' bike stand like the young woman in the picture appears to be using?

There's a bike?
