Tent shopping advice.

right, tried a bivi over the weekend and hated it. claustrophobic in the hunka, unable to relax with my head out, and the thought of sleeping under a plastic sheet freaks me out. :D

so this weekend i am going to buy a 1 man tent, or a small 2 man one
it needs to be
A. not too expensive
B. small packsize
C. lightish

idea's please.

All depends how much you're looking to spend Tony. If somewhere around £100 sounds okay then there's some good stuff out there.

Here's four, they'll all keep you dry and warm, stand up to the majority of british weather and last a good few years ... they'll also have a reasonable resale value too.

I purchased the Zephyros 2 tent not so long ago. I actually got Go Outdoors to price match it so got it for £94.50! Only used it in the back garden for the moment as i am really keen to try out the bivi/tarp rather than lugging a tent about with me.

Anyone know the pack size of the new Zephyros tents? The original one was pretty big which is what made me choose the vango helium in the end.

Cheap as chips. Packs small, light. Inside is a bit baggy but that's why they are selling them cheap. Might be worth a look.

Do you have a Alpkit Delta Faff Master? I've been looking at them and read some reviews (including the one on this blog) but can't decide about them. I know the problems are with the inner tent but its the inner tent that i need against the midges.

My Alpkit Delta has only been up in the garden (no photos).

I mainly got it as a cheap option for a two man tent when doing the Polaris but I really like it's pack size and would consider using it on longer bikepacking trips with my wife (we normally use my Big Agnes Seedhouse SL3 as we're both tall).

Not done any trips this year as currently injured but we are planning on doing the Highland Trail and the Cairngorms Loop as a tour over two weeks in the summer. We'll do a shorter trip before hand if possible to test it out. I'll try and write a mini review when I do.

I think a few stitches here and there on the inside would make a big difference but I'll try it without first.

I have a delta and really like it. The inner is odd, the floor is perfect and one half of it is perfect, and one side is slightly the wrong shape and missing a toggle. I have thought about tweaking it to make it perfect, but can't be arsed!

For the money you can't go wrong.
