Chain lubes?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

What's everyone use now the monsoon season is upon us? I have been using Pedros Syntec stuff but it gets washed off all too quickly.

I'm after something which will stay in place after more than a single river crossing. :D

I like White Lightning Epic.

It won't last in monsoon conditions but, IME, nothing will. I used to use Finish Line wet lube but when it was properly wet, my chain still ended up with no lube. And in the dry, the Finish Line lube made a horrible sticky mess.

My choice is to take a small bottle of lube with me.

Pedro's Synlube here, pretty much year round.

I carry a small sample pot (1oz, maybe) that was once a freebie from a merida containing Finish Line wet lube. Agree with Aidan about the sticky chain when using that stuff in anything other than wet conditions.

Thank you ... I've tried the Finish Line and did find it stayed in place better than the Pedros stuff. It's also a much friendlier price than just about everything else, after all it'll be floating off down a stream soon enough ;)

Juicy Wet Lube all year, tried that 'Green' Oil was rubbish, Muc-Off wet lube was good in the winter, lasted for the ride and then clean chain when home

Green oil seems to be working for me and I got green wax lube for winter that I'm keen to try, I used White lighting wax in the work shop on customers bike before and was really impressed by it but just like the rest it needs proper application clean, degrease & apply and so on
