Does anyone have one? I wondered how good the new 'Spot' feature worked with a smart phone?
I currently dont have a GPS and wondered if the 800 or 810 would be best??

Re: Garmin Edge 810
I don't have one but i'd be very cautious of any device relying on a phone signal for live tracking.
I tried a similar thing using Buddy Beacon via the Viewranger app on my phone last year on the WRT. As soon as I dropped into an area with no mobile coverage, my tracker stopped and then didn't return. It caused unnecessary worry!
The SPOT trackers rely on satellites rather than phone signals so only drop out of reception in dense areas where tree coverage etc may be an issue. I think even the SPOT tracker that works with mobile phones is designed to use satellites via the SPOT device and only uses a smart phone as an interface tool.
