whats the problem with anything cages?

Post by barney »

i purchased an anything cage a few months ago, (don't shout at me for below as I'm still a bit of a novice)

i 'only' have standard forks so simply mounted it using jubilee clips (and a bit of an old innertube to protect the fork). I've given them a good solid test and ridden a couple of bivis with it, there is no sign of any movement. I never strap heavy stuff to it but lightweight bulky items like my down jacket etc. in a drybag.

I've read that these cages have issues but can't find what they are? Also do you think my diy mounting is a bad idea, like i've said it is mounted solidly?

cheers
Wait for me...

They have a habit of cracking/snapping on the thin 'ears' above and below the slots the straps pass through. No reason why a DIY mount won't be fine.

You do realise that saying anything like 'mine seem okay' is the kiss of death ;)

Nothing wrong with jubilee clip mounts, they just don't look very pretty.
